Medical Practice Websites

Websites for Medical Practices

Doctors • Specialists • Allied Health • Clinics

Patients look you up before they book. They want to know who you are, what you treat, where you are, whether you take their medical aid and how to make an appointment. If your website does not answer those questions quickly on a phone, they call the next practice on the list.

Sutherland Sites builds websites for medical and allied health practices across South Africa, from single practitioner rooms to specialist centres and national associations. We understand the rules healthcare websites have to follow, and we design around the way patients actually use them.

What a good practice website includes

  • Online booking or appointment requests that fit the way your practice works
  • Practitioner profiles with qualifications, special interests and HPCSA registration details
  • Clear pages for your services and the conditions you treat, written in plain language
  • Medical aid, fees and payment information, so patients know what to expect
  • Location, parking, hours and after-hours contact details, with a Google Map
  • Referral information for other doctors and practices
  • Fast, mobile friendly pages with click to call and WhatsApp buttons
  • Patient forms that collect only what you need and are handled securely

Built with HPCSA advertising rules in mind

Practitioners registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) have to follow its ethical rules on advertising. In short, information must be accurate and not misleading, and practitioners may not canvass or tout for patients, for example by claiming to be the best or offering inducements. Patient testimonials and before and after photos also raise consent and confidentiality questions.

We write website content that informs patients without overstepping those lines: factual descriptions of your services, qualifications and approach, with no superiority claims or promised outcomes. You and your professional body always have the final say, and we are happy to adjust wording to fit your profession’s guidelines.

POPIA and patient information

Health information is special personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), so it needs extra care. On a practice website that usually means:

  • Forms that ask only for the details you actually need
  • SSL encryption on every page and form
  • Enquiries and bookings handled by secure systems rather than plain email where possible
  • A clear privacy notice that explains how patient information is used and stored
  • Limited access to website data and regular security updates

Healthcare websites we have built

Our healthcare work includes the website for ASAIPA, an alliance of independent practitioner associations representing about 1,200 GPs across South Africa, and Sleep Health Centre South Africa, a doctor-led sleep medicine practice with in-clinic and virtual consultations. We have also worked with health and wellness brands including Brandmed Group, Syntro-P and NervIQ. See more of our work on the web design page.

Help patients find you

Most patients search for things like “GP near me” or a specialist in their area. We set up the SEO basics on every practice website and can help with your Google Business Profile, local SEO and Google Ads, which has its own policies for healthcare advertising. Our hosting and maintenance plans, listed on the pricing page, keep the site secure and up to date after launch.

Medical practice website FAQs

Yes. We can add an appointment request form, or link the website to an online booking system you already use. We help you choose the option that suits the way your practice manages its diary.

Be careful here. The HPCSA’s rules on advertising and canvassing make patient testimonials a risk, and they also raise consent and confidentiality questions. We usually recommend factual content about your services and qualifications instead. Check with your professional body if you are unsure.

We build practice websites with POPIA in mind: secure forms, SSL, a privacy notice and limited access to patient information. Full POPIA compliance also covers how your practice handles information offline, so we recommend checking your overall policies with a compliance adviser.

Yes. Our practice websites suit GPs, specialists, allied health practitioners, clinics and healthcare associations.

Yes. Every website includes the SEO basics, and we offer local SEO and Google Ads management. Healthcare ads have extra Google policies and HPCSA rules to follow, and we keep campaigns factual and within those rules.

Our website packages start at R4,500 for a 2 page site and R8,500 for a 5 page site. Practice websites with booking systems, several practitioner profiles or other extra features cost more, so we quote after a free consultation.
